Weather Reach Receiver

The Weather Reach Receiver uses local weather information to calculate evapotranspiration (ET). It integrates ET, rainfall amounts, and data indicating adverse weather conditions into any standard irrigation controller to adjust irrigation schedules.

Automated ET-based irrigation control saves water, promotes a healthier landscape, and saves time.

The amount of water a landscape requires changes with weather conditions. This water loss is known as evapotranspiration (ET). Irrigation systems can apply the amount of water lost based on ET.

The Weather Reach System automatically adjusts irrigation schedules. The system is comprised of two parts: the Weather Reach Receiver and local Weather Reach Service Providers. The service providers broadcast the latest weather data to the receivers using a Motorola® Flex® paging system.

Using hourly data, comprised of air temperature, wind speed, relative humidity and solar energy measurements, the Weather Reach Receiver calculates ET. The ET calculations follow the "Standardized Reference Evapotranspiration Equation" for short, clipped grass prepared by EWRI. To fine-tune Weather Reach ET calculations, crop coefficients (landscape adjustment %factor) can be applied to obtain ETC.
